Powermeter

Powermeter o misuratori di potenza, dispositivi in grado di indicare al ciclista la potenza della pedalata sia in gara, che in allenamento.

Se fino a pochi anni fa erano i ciclocomputer, anche noti come computer da bicicletta, a misurare la potenza della pedalata, da alcuni anni il mercato delle componenti ciclismo offre pedali e pedivelle speciali con wattametri integrati.

Tutti i Powermeter, o misuratori di potenza, che siano montati nel pedale piuttosto che nel movimento centrale o nella guarnitura, funzionano con una striscia metallica leggermente distorta dalla forza che si applica durante la guida. I Misuratori di Potenza misurano con precisione la deformazione della striscia metallica e determinano i watt impiegati dal ciclista per raggiungere una tale distorsione.
